Urban Flavours is a cannabis dispensary located in Niverville.

Over the course of four months, we collaborated with our repeat client to design a soft, comfortable, classic environment with a boutique hotel feel – sensitive to the fact that we were working on the first-ever cannabis dispensary in this small town. 

Working with a large square footage, we started with strategic planning to build out larger-than-life scale features. The reception counter reads like a concierge desk with a custom teak arched threshold, which allowed for an intimate micro environment – a room-within-a-room feel.

The desk features Venaria Reale stone from Prairie Stone Market in Winnipeg. A second threshold under the cash desk has a double opening on the right and left, to allow access to the back-of-house. The feature light above the desk was an anchoring piece, playing off the shape of the Urban Flavours logo. 

As with most of our commercial projects, we try to be sensitive in designing counters so they become part of the composition, rather than simply designing for code. While the space only required one counter, we designed the desk to showcase two, providing a strong sense of  balance which minimized the visual focus on ADA and placed it on detailing harmony.

The space also features a sizeable custom sectional, with pieces that can be easily moved for community events as needed. We included ample storage space for easy restocking. 

Repetition and rhythm throughout the space coordinated with the marketing P.O.P. to allow for an integrated narrative and came up with a graphic wallpaper to add visual interest to a space that also needed specific security measures.

We’re proud of playing a role in bringing this unique dispensary to the Niverville community.
