Debbie and Amanda grew up with each other in the design industry (and as it often happens in Winnipeg – found out they were cousins).

“When we started Design Shop in 2013, we wanted to create a design firm that allowed us to express our creative selves and passion for design while maintaining work life balance and equilibrium.  This translates not only into our project solutions but also by providing a safe space to work for our incredible team of designers.

We recognized that there was a hole in the industry for an approachable experience and use of accessible languaging. Rather than being stuck-up, stuffy, and pretentious – we wear our hearts on our sleeves and encourage our team to do the same by staying true to their authentic selves. We bring a “breath of fresh air” approach to every engagement we have with clients, trades and consultants and into every project we are involved in.

We’re designing for humans after all, so we may as well act like humans. Our designs are created mindfully and this has resulted in long lasting relationships with clients, repeat referrals, and friendships.
