For this architectural Lethbridge residence, we wanted to create individualized gathering zones within the open concept space that range in hierarchy of formality.
With the client being very musically passionate, a designated area was designed to house, and proudly feature, their piano. Three Bensen U Turn chairs sourced from HUTK, sit alongside the piano. Their 360º discretely hidden rotating base, allows the focal point to oscillate from viewing a performance at the piano to moving inward for more relaxed conversations, with the feel of a little piano bar lounge.
Adjacent to the piano, and a little more tucked away, we created a more intimate gathering space. Modular Eave sofas by Audo turn the focus towards a fireplace, supplying warmth and comfort that lends to deep conversations long into the night, or quiet evenings with a book and glass of wine.
For less formal gathering, a massive modular sectional by Lee Industries, from Luxe Furniture anchors an entertainment area. Welcoming one in like a big hug, this space feels cozy and casual for movie nights and Netflix binges.
Injections of colour blocking with furniture throughout the space allowed the opportunity to bring in personality, playfulness, and the subtle encouragement to not take things too seriously.
Architecturally led, the kitchen of this Lethbridge residence stands as the heart of the home. Central to the kitchen stands an art piece of an island, lined with Tori chairs by Benson, from HUTK. The tiered height of the island is reinforced above with multiple Lambert & Fils, Laurent Collection sculptural light fixtures. Natural light cascades into this kitchen, casting light and shadows below, while exposed douglas fir beams above create a show stopping ceiling feature. Designed to allow the structure of the space to become the star, this kitchen makes a statement without drawing attention away from the double volume, open space of this home.
